Your Local Workshop
MAD Leatherworks is a one-man leather workshop operating out of West Auckland, New Zealand. Every piece is made by hand, essentially one at a time. I have 2 decades of working in reasonably harsh environments that has shaped my ethos on gear – whether its been deep in snow, up a multipitch, lost in the bush or responding to challenging situations. Yes this ethos is about making something personal, but it’s really about providing gear that’s dependable in the field and holds up under pressure.
That’s why I work primarily with full-grain, vegetable-tanned leather — one of the strongest, most durable materials out there. It ages well, tells a story, and outlasts just about anything else if you treat it right. Every edge is hand-burnished, every hole punched and stitched by hand. It’s slow work, but the kind that matters — especially when the goal is gear that lasts a career.

What’s in a Name?
While it’s just me in the workshop its a family business, as they are at the heart of everything I do. My daughters are the inspiration behind the brand. They might be too young to swing a hammer yet, but they hang out with Dad in the shop, soaking up the values behind the work — patience, pride, purpose. That’s why its MAD – Morrison and Daughters.
Why Choose MAD Leatherworks
1) No production line here. Just attention to detail, a clear vision, and a bit of skill to help out.
2) Durable product. Leather is unmatched in its ability to wear in, not out. It softens and adapts, but it doesn’t quit. Its stronger than most materials, repairs well, and can last a long time if cared for.
3) Customer satisfaction matters, not because its good business, but because its the whole reason MAD exists. I aim to deliver, if somethings not right, then I’ll make it right.
